Community spirit shines brightly

Post 9 of 38

Nigel, Val and Louie were delighted to join local residents in spreading some Christmas cheer in Blackfen, Falconwood and Welling again this year. All three Councillors volunteer their time to help organise and pay for the Christmas lights and trees each year in Blackfen, Falconwood and Welling. These are largely funded out of their own pockets alongside local businesses and organisations to help bring the local community together.

We have copied below a selection of pictures from this year’s festivities. The highlights include over 200 local residents in full voice at Bishop Ridley’s Carols on The Green, Louie joined a similar number of Santas at Danson Park for the annual Greenwich & Bexley Hospice Charity 5k, while the Blackfen Community Association and Community Library hosted the Mayor of Bexley and hundreds of residents for the big switch on and Santa’s Grotto.

The Councillors would like to thank all of the individuals and groups that have helped make this year’s events a great success. These include all of the local business that donated generously (please support them by shopping locally), Bishop Ridley Church, Blackfen Community Association, Blackfen Community Library, Falconwood Community Centre, Welling Town Partnership and the Bexley Rotary Club for bringing Santa to our streets every year.

Merry Christmas everyone.
